Hanita Coatings Supports EWFA

(Haifa, Israel, 20 May 2010) Hanita Coatings, a leading manufacturer of window films, recently rejoined the European Window Film Association (EWFA) after a five-year absence. The EWFA brings together window film manufacturers and distributors in order to promote awareness of the benefits of window film, and to advocate the concept of an EU harmonized window film standard.
“It’s important that Hanita Coatings, as the largest manufacturer of window film outside the US, supports the EWFA in its activities,” explains Li-Or Chemke, VP Window Films. . “The general public doesn’t realize what a positive effect solar control film can have on reducing the amount of the energy used on cooling and heating buildings. The industry needs to team up to inform and educate both the consumer and the policy maker of the impact on carbon emissions that window films can make, and this is exactly what the EWFA can help achieve.”
According to the EWFA, research by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in the UK shows that on average, 40% of the load placed on air conditioning in offices comes from direct solar gain through windows. Window film primarily reflects high levels of solar radiation back to the outside, before this solar energy penetrates the building, reducing the cooling load, saving energy costs and increasing home and workplace comfort.
“When you also consider the additional advantages window film can offer, such UV protection, fade reduction and glass safety,” comments Li-Or, “it’s easy to see that it’s an underappreciated commodity. Our aim is to work closely with the EWFA to raise this level of recognition on both a consumer and legislative level.”
Dave Cox, President of the EWFA, was also pleased with Hanita’s decision to support the association, stating that “we are delighted to have Hanita Coatings join the EWFA as we now have all the major window film manufacturers represented in the association.
